Testimonials for The Divine Office for Dodos Dodos receives many testimonials of praise for teaching its users how to pray the Divine Office. These are a few of them: “Your book is great!” – Mary McCurry, Pacifica, CA "There simply isn't anything else that has helped me as much as this book! I pray the Office every day (Morning, Evening, and Night Prayer), and now my husband and seven-year-old son are learning to pray it, too!" -- Holly Bodoh, Milwaukee, WI. “Thank you for writing such a wonderful book.” – Walter Bobola, Acushnet, MA “Thanks for this wonderful book. It is helping me immensely.” – Scott Guild, West Palm Bean, FL “Thank you. I ordered two more copies of the book today!” – Ralph Quane, Ferndale, MI “Thank you for such a clever book.” – Carolyn Simonds, Simi Valley, CA “I’m Lutheran, but have been doing a modified Liturgy of the Hours for years. This book is helping me to expand and understand more.” – Karen Whitley, Ocean Springs, MS “Thank you for the beautiful book. I have learned so much. God bless you.” – Lynn Hudak, Sumter, SC “I have just purchased a copy of your book, which I am very happy with. My future wife and I are very keen to learn how to pray the Divine Office together.” – James Cullen, Fintona, Northern Ireland “Marvelous book, many thanks!” – P.W. Marriott, Wilmington, NC “Thank you for this fantastic book!” – Kathleen Englert, Summit, NJ “Love the book! Thanks!” – Amanda Sumner, Mt. Pocono, PA “My husband purchased The Divine Office for Dodos, and it has assisted me with that confusion, frustration and anger that your introduction speaks about.; Thanks you for … writing and publishing this book.” – Mary Jo Knapp-Bespalko, Binghamton, NY. "This is the best tool out there for learning to pray the Office. I
should get royalties for the number of times I have recommended this
book to people. Everyone who has bought it has come back to me with
rave notices. This book is so easy to use, so careful in its
incremental presentation of the complexities of praying the office,
and so handy in size.
The light-hearted tone is perfect for people who may tend towards a
bit of scrupulosity. You make it clear (as someone recently said)
that "not doing it right isn't the same as doing it wrong." Your
presentation gives people the baby steps that build the "correct"
patterns of praying the Office without a burdening of false
perfectionism.
I love this book! Part of what makes it work is that you flesh out a
lot of the details that simply do not appear in the GILH." -- Karen
Sadock, Dumont NJ
I am a graduate student, studying Pastoral Ministry. Our assignment this week was to prepare a prayer service using the Liturgy of the Hours. I just wanted to tell you how helpful it was to have your book on hand. When I prepared the service, I did so with the intention of introducing people to the Liturgy of the Hours. So, the service handout had little information snippets in the margins that explained what we were doing and why. The explanations in The Divine Office for Dodos are very readable and easy to understand. They were perfect for the margin boxes. I am so glad to hear that demand for your book exceeds supply. It is a good one! -- Peace, Barbara Harris, Elgin OK Finally got my Dodo’s book and am enjoying the learning, thanks for writing it, it is so easy to follow and learn from. Carol Ann Munoz, Grand Blanc MI I LOVE YOUR BOOK! It is truly a Godsend! I have been studying it for about a week now. I am a Secular Carmelite in the Towson MD community and have been praying morning, evening and night prayer for about 4 years now. However, the rest of the offices were a mystery to me. I am going to recommend this book to all the members of my community. Barbara Sardella, OCDS, Towson MD I just want to thank you for your book. I acquired it last weekend while on retreat at St. Joseph's Abbey. I am a happy DoDo. Sqwak (or whatever thanks is in dodo=ese). Charles Swearingen, Belmont MA
Last evening I finished teaching a three week (three
Tuesday evenings) course on praying the Divine Office at a large
local parish. We had seventy-plus people each night. I used your
fine book, and a local Catholic bookseller sold a case of them. I
was emphatic in stating that there isn't an instruction book for the
Office that can match it. The bookseller agreed. God bless you for
your devotion and your pedagogical brilliance in devising your DODOS
book! I just wanted to say Thank You for such a wonderful book! I just recently renewed my Catholic faith and wanted to learn to pray the Divine Office. Your book was so helpful and fun! . . . Being able to read the Divine Office has changed my life and my faith! . . . I have been bragging to my friends about how great this book is and I told my friend who owns a Catholic book store to recommend it when some purchases a Breviary; it is a great way to really understand what you are looking at and what to do. I was so overwhelmed at first, I felt like you were writing about me in your book. I am a fast learner and found this book so easy to follow and the practice sections made me feel extra confident about what I learned. In the future I would like to help others at my Parish to learn the Divine Office. I want to build up my confidence a bit more first, but I could see a lot of people being interested if someone could just help them get started. God Bless you for making this resource available! Jennifer Delciappo --------- Thank you
for a book that is not only instructional, but absolutely charming
and a pleasure to learn from. The style is so gentle yet thorough I
feel as though a kind teacher is personally leading me through the
lessons. -------------- Thank
you, thank you, thank you for your book!!!!! Thanks to you, I am
now able to pray the Office four times a day! ------------------- Your book is phenomenal! Well worth the money. John Cioffi -------------- Just
wanted to let you know that I received my package the other day- so
exciting!! I am on lesson 12, and am so grateful you have written
this book- I am so sure I never would have figured all this myself!
And I love the fact that you are a frequent exclamation point user,
too!
---------------- I just want to thank you for writing The Divine Office for Dodos. I haven’t mastered all the offices—am still working on Night Prayer and Morning Prayer—but I am slowly learning my way around the Liturgy of the Hours, which I’d thought impossible before I bought your book. And I am learning patience, too!
Thank you and God bless you,
Rebecca R. ---------------- Your book, The Divine Office for Dodos, helped me learn the 1 volume Office. Yesterday, I graduated to the 4 volume version. . . . . Thank you so much for publishing your book. I will continue to pray the Divine Office, which has added a whole new dimension to my prayer life. Thank you.
Prisceilla J. Kucik ----------------- I'm so enjoying learning and praying the Divine Office with help from your wonderful book!! Thanks for that too...I'm sure I couldn't have navigated without you!
